Tamoxifen is an endocrine medicine. It blocks or changes oestrogen signalling in some breast tissues and may be prescribed to treat hormone-sensitive cancer or reduce risk in selected situations. The name on the box identifies the manufacturer or product presentation; the active medicine remains tamoxifen. Your treatment length and dose are individual. It is not interchangeable with every hormonal medicine, so check with a pharmacist before accepting a substitution.

Take each dose as directed and at a consistent time if that helps you remember. If you miss a dose, follow the instructions from your clinic or pharmacist rather than doubling up. Give the team a complete list of prescribed medicines, non-prescription products, and herbal supplements, since some can alter treatment or increase side effects.
