Triple-negative means the tumour does not have the hormone receptors or HER2 target used for some other breast cancer treatments. Stage IV describes spread to distant areas, which may include bone, lung, liver, or brain. Imaging, biopsy findings, previous treatment, symptoms, and general health help the team choose a plan. Receptor and molecular results may be reviewed again when treatment decisions change.

Chemotherapy is often discussed because it can work throughout the body. Immunotherapy may suit some people based on tumour and health information. PARP inhibitor therapy may be considered in selected people with inherited or tumour-related BRCA changes. Treatment can be adjusted for response, side effects, and personal priorities. Pain relief, fatigue support, nutrition, emotional care, and help with practical needs belong in the same conversation.

Contact your team quickly for fever during treatment, new or worsening breathlessness, severe chest or abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, confusion, a seizure, sudden weakness, or a new severe headache. Seek emergency help for collapse, severe breathing difficulty, or sudden neurological changes. Do not wait for the next appointment if symptoms are rapidly worsening.
