Solar cheilitis of the lip: what to know

The lower lip is often exposed to sunlight and may become dry, scaly, rough, tender, or fissured. The border between the lip and surrounding skin can become less distinct. Wind, licking the lips, dehydration, and irritating lip products may worsen discomfort, but ongoing changes should not be assumed to be simple dryness.
