What should you know about slight fever temp?

Readings vary with the thermometer site, time of day, recent activity and the surrounding temperature. A single modest reading cannot identify a cause. Fever can accompany the Common Cold, COVID-19 or Acute Bronchitis, while a child with a barking cough may have Croup. A rash with tender, warm skin can occur with Cellulitis.

Write down the reading and method, then look for a trend. Chills, cough, sore throat, pain, vomiting, diarrhoea or urinary symptoms provide more useful context than the number alone.

Rest in a comfortable room, take regular fluids and avoid heavy layers. Recheck using the same thermometer and method if symptoms change. Fever medicine may ease discomfort, but follow the label and ask a pharmacist about interactions, pregnancy, children or long-term health conditions. Do not combine products that contain the same ingredient.

Arrange clinical advice when a fever lasts, returns repeatedly or is paired with dehydration, breathing difficulty, severe headache, stiff neck, confusion, unusual sleepiness, a rapidly spreading rash or severe pain. Seek emergency care for collapse, a seizure, blue lips or inability to wake.
