Skin Vasculitis Images: What to Know

Inflamed small blood vessels can produce spots or patches that may feel raised, burn, itch, or become tender. The colour can deepen as the area changes, and some lesions may blister, crust, or form shallow sores. Similar appearances can come from infection, medication reactions, trauma, or other inflammatory conditions. A clinician considers the distribution, whether the marks fade with pressure, recent medicines or illness, and symptoms beyond the skin.

Take clear photographs in good light and record when the rash began, where it started, and whether it is spreading. Bring a list of medicines, supplements, and recent infections to the appointment. Do not start or stop prescription medicine without advice. If inflammation is confirmed, treatment may include Oral Corticosteroid Treatment, with the choice guided by the extent and cause.

Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe abdominal pain, blood in urine or stool, marked weakness, confusion, fever with a rapidly spreading rash, or painful skin that is turning dark. These symptoms can signal more than a skin-only problem. Prompt review is also appropriate for blisters, open sores, or a rash that continues to spread.
