Sun spot removal: what to know

A sun spot is a pigment-rich area linked with cumulative ultraviolet exposure, often appearing as a flat tan or brown mark. Similar-looking dark patches can have different causes, and a changing lesion may need medical assessment rather than cosmetic removal. During review, a dermatologist considers the mark’s border, colour pattern, surface, symptoms, and history. This helps avoid treating a lesion before its nature is clear.

Daily sunscreen, protective clothing, and shade help limit new pigment and support treatment results.
