Skin routine for sensitive skin

Short answer
A sensitive-skin routine should use a gentle cleanser, a plain moisturiser, daily sun protection, and gradual product changes.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What sensitive skin can mean
Sensitive skin may sting, burn, itch, flush, or feel tight after contact with water, skincare, heat, sweat, or friction. The skin barrier may be less able to retain moisture and may react to ingredients that others tolerate. Sensitivity can occur with conditions such as rosacea, atopic dermatitis, or perioral dermatitis, so repeated or worsening symptoms deserve an assessment rather than endless product switching.
Build a calmer routine
Wash with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, non-scrubbing cleanser. Use your fingertips, rinse gently, and pat dry. Apply a simple moisturiser while the skin is slightly damp; creams or ointments may feel more protective than lightweight lotions. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen each morning and shade or clothing when practical. Introduce one new product at a time on a small area first, and stop a product that causes persistent burning, swelling, or a new rash. Avoid scrubs, strong fragrances, frequent exfoliation, and picking.
When to seek care
Arrange dermatology care if burning or redness keeps returning, a rash spreads, the skin cracks or oozes, or ordinary moisturisers become difficult to tolerate. Seek urgent help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty, widespread blistering, or a rapidly worsening painful rash.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether your pattern fits rosacea, atopic dermatitis, or perioral dermatitis; which cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen suit your skin; and whether any current medicines or cosmetics could be causing irritation.

Questions people ask
Should sensitive skin be exfoliated?
Often it is better to pause exfoliation while the skin stings, burns, or has an active rash. A clinician can advise whether a mild product is appropriate later.
How can I test a new product?
Apply a small amount to a limited area as advised on the product, observe for irritation, and avoid introducing another new product at the same time.
