Skin itching after fever: what it can mean

Sweating, dry skin, frequent washing, and dehydration during an illness can leave the skin irritated as the fever settles. Itching may also occur with hives or a viral rash. If you started an antibiotic or another medicine, tell a clinician when the itching began; a medication reaction can appear with or without visible spots.
