Silicone gel sheet uses

A silicone sheet rests over scar tissue and reduces contact with clothing or other surfaces. With regular use, it may make some scars feel softer and look flatter. It is used for scars after injuries, surgery, and burns once the skin has closed.

A sheet is not a treatment for an open wound, active infection, or an unexplained lump. It also cannot erase a scar or correct deeper tethering that restricts movement.

Select a product that can cover the scar without pulling the surrounding skin. Apply it to clean, dry, healed skin and follow its instructions for wear time, washing, and replacement. Check the edges and the skin beneath it regularly, particularly in hot or humid conditions.

Pause use if burning, blistering, persistent itching, or a spreading rash develops. If the scar stays thick, painful, or tight, a dermatologist may discuss scar revision surgery or another treatment rather than relying on a sheet alone.

Seek care for drainage, increasing warmth, spreading redness, fever, sudden swelling, or an opening in the skin. A changing scar, a scar that grows beyond its original injury, or reduced movement also deserves an examination.
