What should you know about septate uterus miscarriage week?

A septate uterus develops before birth when the tissue that forms the uterus does not fully remodel. A band of tissue divides part of the cavity, and its size and blood supply can vary. Some people have no symptoms and discover the difference during fertility or pregnancy imaging.

A miscarriage can occur at different stages for many reasons. A septate uterus may be relevant to pregnancy loss, but the timing alone cannot show that the septum caused it. Clinicians consider the ultrasound findings, pregnancy development, other health factors, and whether pregnancy tissue remains in the uterus.

After a miscarriage, your clinician may first confirm the location and progress of the pregnancy with examination and imaging. Once bleeding and inflammation have settled, a specialist may assess the uterine cavity more closely. Keep records of bleeding, pain, fever, and any treatment received, and ask when it is medically appropriate to try for pregnancy again.

If the septum appears substantial or pregnancy losses recur, operative hysteroscopy may be discussed. This procedure uses a camera passed through the vagina and cervix to inspect the cavity; treatment may be possible during the same procedure. The decision depends on your anatomy, pregnancy history, and reproductive plans.

Get urgent medical attention for heavy bleeding, severe or one-sided abdominal pain, fainting, shoulder-tip pain, fever, chills, foul-smelling discharge, or feeling suddenly very unwell.
