What should you know about seminoma symptoms?

A change in the size, shape, or firmness of one testicle can be a presentation of seminoma. Some people notice a lump, a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, or a dull ache in the groin or lower abdomen. Symptoms may be subtle, and a lack of pain does not rule out a testicular problem.

If disease affects lymph nodes or other areas, back or abdominal discomfort, cough, breathlessness, or unexplained tiredness may occur. These symptoms have many possible causes, so they do not establish a diagnosis. A clinician needs to examine the testicles and choose appropriate tests.

Arrange a medical assessment for a new lump, persistent swelling, or a change that does not settle. The clinician may examine you and arrange an ultrasound or other tests. Do not squeeze or repeatedly check a painful area, and note when the change began, whether it is growing, and whether there is fever or injury.

Seek emergency care for sudden, severe testicular pain, especially with nausea, vomiting, or a testicle that appears higher than usual. These features can signal a time-sensitive problem.
