ScarAway silicone gel sheets: what to know

A silicone gel sheet sits over intact scar tissue and reduces direct rubbing against the area. The covered, hydrated environment may help a firm or raised scar become more flexible and less noticeable as it matures. It cannot replace wound care, remove deep scar tissue, or diagnose a new lump. Avoid using it over an open, wet, crusted, or infected area unless a clinician gives specific instructions.

Read the product directions and apply the sheet to clean, dry skin. Trim it so it covers the scar without excessive overlap or tension. Remove it for washing the skin and sheet, allow both to dry, and replace it as directed. Start cautiously if you have eczema or sensitive skin. Redness that persists, itching with a rash, blisters, or soreness means the sheet should be removed and the skin reviewed. Keep the scar protected from friction and sunlight while it heals.
