How to reduce frown lines

Short answer
Frown lines can be softened by protecting the skin and matching treatment to muscle movement, line depth, and facial anatomy.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Understanding frown lines
Frown lines, also called glabellar lines, sit between the eyebrows and may look like vertical creases or an inverted V. They deepen when the corrugator and procerus muscles draw the brows together during concentration, squinting, or strong emotion. With time, a crease may remain while the face is relaxed as skin support and elasticity change.
They are a form of wrinkles, not a sign that someone is angry or unwell. Sun exposure, smoking, dry skin, and habitual squinting can make lines more noticeable. A clinician will consider brow position, eyelid movement, existing asymmetry, and whether the line is primarily dynamic or etched.
Treatment and daily care
Use sunscreen, sunglasses in bright conditions, and a moisturiser suited to your skin. A topical retinoid can support gradual texture improvement for some people, but irritation is possible and pregnancy-related restrictions should be discussed with a clinician. Gentle care is preferable to repeatedly scrubbing the crease.
Botox can relax the muscles that create frown lines, while dermal fillers may be considered for selected static depressions. These options have different purposes and risks; the glabellar area needs careful assessment because anatomy varies. Ask about dosing, timing, alternatives, and how unwanted brow heaviness or asymmetry would be managed.
When to seek care
Arrange assessment if lines appear with a new rash, persistent irritation, swelling, pain, facial weakness, numbness, or another neurological change. Following an injectable treatment, seek urgent help for severe pain, marked colour change in the skin, vision symptoms, difficulty speaking, or weakness.
Questions for your doctor
Ask which muscles create your lines, whether Botox or another approach fits your movement pattern, how your natural brow expression will be preserved, and what aftercare or warning symptoms to watch for.

Questions people ask
Will relaxing frown muscles change my expression?
A measured plan aims to soften the crease while preserving natural expression, but the result depends on muscle strength, anatomy, and treatment technique.
Can cream erase frown lines?
Moisturiser and retinoid-based care may improve texture, while deeper movement-related lines often require a different approach.
