An injector may place filler along the lip border, in the body of the lip, or at selected points to address proportions. The desired effect can be definition, gentle projection, improved balance or a softer appearance around the mouth. The amount and placement should follow your anatomy rather than a standard template.

Swelling, tenderness, bruising and temporary firmness are possible after injections. The lips can look larger or less even at first than they do once the local reaction settles. A review helps distinguish expected recovery from a problem needing treatment.

Contact the injector promptly if pain intensifies, swelling spreads quickly, the skin becomes pale or dusky, or a treated area feels cold. Get urgent medical care for vision disturbance, breathing difficulty, severe headache, weakness or other sudden neurological symptoms. Early assessment matters when circulation or vision may be affected.
