Small rough bumps around underarm hairs can occur when keratin builds up around follicles. Shaving, tight clothing, sweating, deodorant irritation, or ingrown hairs can make the texture more obvious. Folliculitis presents with inflamed or tender bumps and may include pus, while Keratosis Pilaris more often causes persistent, rough, dry follicular bumps. The underarm is sensitive, so burning from harsh scrubs can prolong the problem.

Wash with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and pat dry. Avoid abrasive scrubs, squeezing, and repeated shaving over irritated skin.
