Red rash spreading all over the body

A rash that begins after a new medicine may be Drug Rash; a reaction after a product, detergent, or other exposure may be Contact Dermatitis. Atopic Dermatitis can produce dry, inflamed areas, while Psoriasis may form sharply bordered scaly plaques. Heat Rash can appear after sweating. Ringworm often forms expanding ring-like patches, and Scabies commonly causes severe itch with involvement of close contacts. These conditions can overlap in appearance, so the timing and distribution matter more than redness alone.

If the rash is widespread or continuing to spread, contact a healthcare professional promptly for individualized advice. Keep a list of medicines, supplements, recent products, foods, illnesses, travel, and contacts with similar symptoms. Use gentle cleansing, avoid new products and scratching, and wear loose clothing. Do not stop an essential prescribed medicine unless the prescriber or urgent-care clinician tells you to, but report any new eruption soon after a medicine.

Call emergency services for trouble breathing, swelling of the lips or tongue, faintness, or rapidly worsening symptoms. Seek urgent assessment for blisters, skin peeling, purple or dark pinpoint marks, severe pain, fever, confusion, or sores in the eyes or mouth. A widespread rash in an infant, older adult, pregnant person, or someone with reduced immunity also merits prompt professional guidance.
