What should you know about red itchy burning eyes?

Allergic conjunctivitis can make both eyes intensely itchy, watery, and red, sometimes alongside sneezing or a runny nose. Allergic rhinitis, house dust mite allergy, and pet allergy may expose the eyes to the same trigger. Dryness, smoke, air conditioning, cosmetics, screens, and contact lenses can produce burning or a gritty feeling. Discharge or eyelids stuck together can occur with conjunctivitis.
