What should you know about red hot rash on face?

A facial rash that starts after a new cleanser, cosmetic, hair product, or mask may reflect Contact Dermatitis. Itchy, dry, cracked patches can occur with Atopic Dermatitis, while heat and sweat can produce Heat Rash. A rash in a moist fold may fit Intertrigo. Ring-shaped scaling can suggest Ringworm, and intense nighttime itching with affected household contacts can suggest Scabies. A fixed, sharply bordered, scaly area may occur with Psoriasis, while a new widespread rash after a medicine needs assessment for Drug Rash.

Facial warmth can also follow flushing or irritation, but a hot, tender, rapidly expanding area is different from a brief flush. Do not diagnose from colour alone; surface texture, itch, pain, distribution, new exposures, and medicine timing provide useful clues.

Make a note of exposures and photograph the rash in consistent light.

Arrange prompt medical review for fever, pus, marked tenderness, a rash after starting a medicine, or symptoms near the eyes.
