What should you know about red cat eye glasses?

The white part of the eye can look pink or red when small surface blood vessels widen or become irritated. Dryness, dust, contact-lens irritation, an allergy, or conjunctivitis can all contribute. Glasses frames may make redness more noticeable, but they do not cause infection or change the eye itself. Itching and watering fit more closely with allergic conjunctivitis, while sticky discharge or eyelids that crust together can occur with conjunctivitis.

Remove contact lenses until the eye feels well and avoid rubbing it. Rinse away visible irritants with clean water, wash your hands often, and do not share towels or eye cosmetics. Preservative-free lubricating drops may soothe mild dryness; use a pharmacist or clinician’s advice for any medicated drop. If redness began after an injury, chemical splash, or something entering the eye, seek urgent advice rather than trying to remove an embedded object.

Arrange prompt medical assessment for eye pain, blurred or reduced vision, marked light sensitivity, a severe headache with nausea, swelling around the eye, or redness after trauma.
