What should you know about razor rash on groin?

Small red bumps, stinging, itching, or tenderness can appear where a razor scraped the skin or where short hairs curl back into follicles. Tight clothing, sweat, and rubbing can prolong irritation. A rash that forms a ring, spreads beyond shaved skin, or affects skin folds may have another cause, such as Ringworm or Intertrigo. A burning or itchy reaction after a new cleanser, shaving gel, or fragranced product can fit Contact Dermatitis.

Stop shaving and avoid waxing until the surface feels calm. Rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry, and use a plain, fragrance-free moisturiser on external skin if it does not sting. Choose loose, breathable underwear and change out of damp clothing. Do not squeeze bumps, scrub the area, or apply perfumed products. When you resume shaving, use a clean sharp razor, warm water, shaving gel, and gentle strokes in the direction of hair growth.

Arrange medical care if pain, warmth, swelling, pus, or spreading redness develops, or if you feel unwell. Seek prompt advice for blisters, open sores, marked swelling, or a rash after sexual contact. A clinician can distinguish follicle irritation from infection, Contact Dermatitis, Scabies, or another skin condition and select treatment suitable for the groin.
