Razor bumps in the pubic area for men

Pubic hair may be coarse or curved, and shaving leaves a sharp edge that can press into nearby skin as it grows. Tight underwear, sweat and rubbing can add irritation. A few itchy bumps may fit Ingrown Hairs; pus, crusting or warmth can indicate Folliculitis. A persistent deep or painful lump should not be assumed to be a shaving reaction without an examination.

Stop close shaving until the area is calm. Clean with lukewarm water and a gentle product, dry by patting and wear loose underwear. Never pick, squeeze or use a needle to release a hair. If grooming is necessary later, trim rather than shave very close, use a clean tool and avoid repeated strokes. A clinician can discuss topical treatment or Laser Hair Removal when episodes are frequent.

Seek care for spreading redness, worsening swelling, severe pain, fever, foul-smelling drainage, a deep lump, open sores or repeated lesions. Urgent assessment is appropriate if pain escalates quickly or you feel unwell. These signs can reflect infection or another condition requiring a different approach.
