What should you know about a rash triggered by heat?

Heat rash may appear as tiny red or clear bumps with prickling or itch where sweat collects. Warm, damp folds can also develop intertrigo, while eczema and psoriasis may become more uncomfortable with sweating or friction. A ring-shaped, scaly patch suggests ringworm rather than simple heat rash, and intense night-time itch may point toward scabies. The timing, location, scale, and whether others are itchy provide useful clues.

Move to a cooler place, rinse sweat away with lukewarm water, pat dry, and wear loose breathable clothing. Change out of damp garments and reduce rubbing from tight straps or seams. Avoid heavy fragranced creams and scratching; a cool compress can calm discomfort. If episodes recur, record the heat exposure, body site, products used, and how quickly the rash settles.
