Rash on forearm: what to know

A rash limited to skin touched by a watch, sleeve, plant, detergent, adhesive, or cosmetic may fit Contact Dermatitis. Heat Rash can appear after sweating, while Atopic Dermatitis often causes dry, itchy inflammation. Psoriasis may form well-defined scaly plaques, and Ringworm may enlarge with a more noticeable edge. A widespread eruption after a new medicine needs medical review. Note whether both forearms are involved and whether exposed skin or covered skin is affected.

Rinse away suspected irritants, change out of sweaty clothing, and use a gentle fragrance-free cleanser. Apply a plain moisturizer to dry, intact skin and protect the area from rubbing and sun while it settles. Avoid scratching, harsh exfoliation, and applying several new products at once. Photograph the rash in good light and keep a short record of new products, outdoor exposures, medicines, and timing.

Seek urgent care if the rash comes with breathing difficulty, facial swelling, faintness, blistering of large areas, severe skin pain, or fever. Prompt assessment is needed for rapidly spreading redness, warmth, pus, or red streaks. Arrange a routine review if it lasts, recurs, leaves marked changes, or does not settle after the suspected exposure stops.
