What should you know about randomly feeling anxious?

Short answer
Random anxiety can be a short-lived body alarm, but repeated or disruptive episodes deserve a health assessment.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What it may mean
Anxiety may appear as unease, racing thoughts, trembling, sweating, a fast heartbeat, or difficulty concentrating. It can follow stress that has not felt obvious, poor sleep, caffeine, alcohol, medication changes, or withdrawal from a substance. Ongoing anxiety may occur with generalised anxiety disorder, burnout, depression, insomnia, panic disorder, or an overactive thyroid. The symptom itself does not identify one cause; timing, triggers, other symptoms, and its effect on daily life help a clinician work out the pattern.
What to do now
Record when episodes start, how long they last, what you were doing, sleep quality, caffeine or alcohol use, medicines, and physical symptoms. During an episode, slow your breathing, relax your shoulders, move to a quieter place, and use a grounding task such as naming objects around you. Regular meals, sleep routines, gentle movement, and reducing stimulants may help. Arrange a Mental Health Assessment or GP appointment if episodes recur, affect work or relationships, or lead you to avoid normal activities.
When to seek care
Seek urgent help for thoughts of self-harm, inability to stay safe, severe confusion, fainting, new chest pain, or serious breathing difficulty. Arrange prompt medical review for a first intense episode, symptoms that keep escalating, or anxiety with marked weight change, persistent palpitations, or very little sleep. A clinician can check physical contributors as well as emotional strain.
Questions for your doctor
Could my medicines, sleep, thyroid, or stimulant use contribute? What symptoms should I track? Would talking therapy, a Mental Health Assessment, or another treatment fit my pattern?

Questions people ask
Can anxiety start without an obvious trigger?
Yes. Body sensations, accumulated stress, sleep loss, substances, and health conditions can produce anxiety even when a clear trigger is not apparent.
When is random anxiety more concerning?
It warrants prompt review when it repeatedly disrupts life, escalates, causes avoidance, or occurs with concerning physical or safety symptoms.
