Pulled Adductor Muscle Symptoms

Short answer
A pulled adductor muscle usually causes pain or tenderness along the inner thigh or groin, especially when bringing the leg inward, walking quickly, or changing direction.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What it means
The adductors draw the leg toward the body and help control the pelvis during walking, running, and sport. A sudden split-like movement, sideways push, sprint, or change of direction can strain them. Symptoms may include a sharp moment of pain, aching afterward, weakness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising. Pain can also come from the hip joint, groin, tendon, or lower back, so the pattern and physical examination matter. Do not use symptom severity alone to judge the amount of tissue injury.
What to do
For the early phase, reduce sprinting, kicking, wide lunges, and side-to-side movements. Walk only as far as your gait stays reasonably comfortable. Cold wrapped in cloth can soothe soreness; later, gentle warmth may help stiffness. Once daily movement is easier, a physiotherapist can introduce controlled adductor contractions and progressive strengthening. Return to sport gradually, testing straight-line movement before cutting, kicking, or rapid changes of direction.
When to seek care
Arrange prompt assessment if you cannot bear weight, felt a pop with immediate weakness, have substantial bruising or swelling, or notice numbness. Seek urgent help for a hot swollen leg with fever, severe pain after major trauma, or groin pain with abdominal symptoms. Review is sensible when pain persists, repeatedly returns, or prevents normal walking because hip and tendon problems can mimic a strain.
Questions for your doctor
Ask which adductor movements are safe, whether the hip or tendon needs examination, how to progress strengthening, and what functional tests should be met before returning to sport.

Questions people ask
Where does an adductor strain hurt?
It commonly hurts in the inner thigh or groin and may extend along the muscle. Hip, tendon, and back problems can feel similar, so location is not a diagnosis.
When can I stretch the adductors?
Avoid forceful stretching while pain is sharp. Begin gentle range-of-motion work when ordinary walking is improving, preferably with rehabilitation guidance.
