What should you know about Profhilo and rosacea?

Rosacea can involve persistent facial redness, flushing, visible small vessels, bumps, pustules, or sensitive burning skin. Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic-acid treatment used to support hydration and skin quality; it is not a treatment that controls rosacea inflammation or replaces a rosacea care plan.

If the skin is flaring, broken, infected, or unusually reactive, injections may add irritation and make it harder to tell a flare from a treatment reaction. A clinician should review your current symptoms, medicines, triggers, and previous responses before deciding whether treatment is appropriate. Sun-damaged skin and dehydration may also be separate concerns rather than explanations for every episode of redness.

Bring a list of your rosacea treatments and explain whether you flush easily, develop eye symptoms, or have reacted to injections before. Ask the injector to examine the proposed sites and to coordinate with the clinician managing your rosacea when the diagnosis or control is uncertain. Do not use Profhilo to self-treat persistent redness, bumps, or burning.

If treatment goes ahead, follow the provider's aftercare advice and avoid adding new skincare products while the skin settles. Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, or small bumps can occur at injection points. Keep the area clean and avoid rubbing it unless your clinician gives different instructions.

Ask for prompt medical advice if redness or swelling is spreading, pain is worsening, the area feels hot, or you develop discharge or fever. Seek urgent help for sudden vision changes, severe unusual pain, marked skin colour change, facial weakness, or trouble speaking after an injection. A rosacea flare and an injection complication can look different, so worsening symptoms should be assessed.

Ask: Is my rosacea sufficiently settled for injections? Could Profhilo worsen my flushing or irritation? What areas should be avoided, how will you distinguish a flare from a treatment reaction, and who should I contact if symptoms increase?
