Prediabetes symptoms

Most people with prediabetes do not notice a specific symptom. When glucose is rising, some people may experience increased thirst, frequent urination, tiredness, blurred vision, or hunger, although these changes have many possible causes. A symptom alone cannot establish prediabetes. Excessive thirst and frequent urination can become more prominent when glucose is much higher, so they deserve a clinical review rather than self-diagnosis. Testing is especially useful when a clinician identifies risk factors such as excess weight, a family history, previous high glucose, or a history of diabetes during pregnancy.

Seek prompt medical advice for new thirst or urination with worsening fatigue, blurred vision, nausea, or unexplained weight loss. These warning signs can reflect a more serious glucose disturbance and should not be explained away as ordinary prediabetes symptoms.
