What should you know about post lipo compression garment?

Liposuction leaves treated tissues swollen and tender while fluid shifts beneath the skin. A fitted garment applies even pressure over the area selected by the clinician. It does not replace wound checks, prescribed movement, or treatment of a complication. The required design, pressure, and wearing schedule depend on the body area, the procedure, dressings, and your healing. Wear the garment only for the schedule given by your surgeon. Put it on smoothly, without folds or rolled edges, and check the skin when removing it. Keep incisions and dressings dry and follow washing instructions so the garment stays clean. Gentle walking can support recovery when permitted. Do not alter the garment or add extra tight layers. Tell the team if it causes numbness, tingling, colour change, increasing pain, or difficulty breathing.

Contact your surgeon for rapidly increasing swelling on one side, worsening pain, fluid leaking through dressings, spreading redness, fever, or skin blisters. Remove the garment and seek urgent advice for blue or very pale skin, coldness, new weakness, severe numbness, or breathing difficulty. Sudden chest pain or faintness needs emergency help.

How many hours should I wear it? Which size and pressure are intended? When may I remove it for bathing or sleep? How should it fit over dressings? What swelling pattern is expected, and when should the garment be refitted?
