What should you know about positive ringworm culture?

Ringworm is a fungal infection, not a worm. A culture can identify dermatophyte growth from material collected from skin, hair, or nails. The result is considered alongside the appearance and location of the problem. Ringworm may cause a spreading, itchy or scaly border, but not every Skin Rash or area of Scaly Skin is ringworm. Scalp, nail, facial, and widespread infections can behave differently from a small area on the body.

Use the treatment selected for the site and follow the full instructions, even if the surface looks better early.
