LCIS means abnormal cells are contained within breast lobules. Pleomorphic means the cells look more irregular and varied than those seen in classic LCIS. The pathology report may mention whether the sample was obtained by needle biopsy, whether the area was fully removed, cell features, and whether a pathologist recommends further tissue assessment. The wording should be interpreted with breast imaging and examination rather than read as a stand-alone prediction.

Arrange a breast specialist review of the report and the images. Ask whether the biopsy adequately explains the imaging finding and whether a surgical excision or additional sampling is advised. The plan can depend on the extent of pleomorphic LCIS, margins if tissue was removed, family history, breast density, and personal priorities.

Risk-reducing endocrine therapy may be discussed for some people. It is a preventive option rather than treatment for an invasive cancer, and possible effects should be balanced against expected benefit. A written surveillance plan should state which breast imaging is needed and when.

Contact the breast team if you notice a new lump, skin or nipple change, nipple discharge, increasing focal pain, or swelling near the breast or armpit. These symptoms do not by themselves establish cancer, but they warrant clinical assessment. Seek urgent care for heavy bleeding after a procedure, fever with wound redness, or rapidly worsening swelling.
