What should you know about period tens unit?

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. The device sends controlled pulses through adhesive pads placed on the skin, commonly around the lower abdomen or back for period pain. The sensation may feel like tingling or tapping and should not be painful. It is a symptom-management tool, so it does not identify or treat causes such as endometriosis, fibroids, infection, or pregnancy-related pain. New, unusually severe, or changing period pain needs a clinical assessment rather than repeated self-treatment alone.

Read the device instructions and start at a low intensity while the unit is switched off during pad placement. Apply pads to clean, intact skin and keep them away from the front of the neck, head, and broken skin. Do not use the unit while bathing, showering, sleeping, or driving. Ask a clinician before use if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device, reduced sensation, epilepsy, or possible pregnancy. Remove pads gently and stop if burning, persistent redness, dizziness, or worsening pain occurs.

Seek urgent medical help for severe or one-sided pelvic pain, fainting, heavy bleeding, fever, repeated vomiting, or a positive pregnancy test with pain or bleeding.
