Osteosarcoma symptoms

Osteosarcoma is a bone cancer that can develop in an arm or leg, often near a major joint. Pain may begin intermittently and become more noticeable with activity or at night. A firm swelling or warmth can develop as the area changes. Limping or difficulty using a limb may follow. These features can also occur with injuries, infections, or non-cancerous bone conditions, so symptoms alone cannot establish the cause.

Arrange a clinical assessment for pain or swelling that persists, worsens, or limits normal movement. The clinician may examine the bone and joint, review the history, and arrange imaging such as an X-ray or magnetic resonance scan.
