What should you know about OGTT 100?

The test checks blood glucose after fasting and after drinking the prepared solution. Comparing the samples helps your clinician see whether glucose is being cleared from the bloodstream as expected. A result outside your clinic's pregnancy range does not explain the cause by itself; it is interpreted with your gestational age, symptoms, medical history, and the laboratory method.

The drink may taste very sweet. Some people feel temporarily nauseated, light-headed, warm, or tired while waiting. These sensations can happen during the test and should be reported to the staff, especially if you feel unable to continue.

Follow the appointment instructions about fasting, medicines, water, and the timing of your arrival. Bring a snack for after the final sample, because you may want to eat promptly once the test is complete. During the waiting period, remain at the testing site, avoid food and strenuous activity, and tell staff if you vomit or feel unwell.

Contact the testing team during the appointment if you vomit, faint, develop marked weakness, or cannot keep the glucose drink down. Afterward, seek urgent maternity advice for severe dizziness, confusion, difficulty breathing, chest pain, or feeling seriously unwell.
