Nut allergy rash

An allergic skin reaction can cause hives, itching, redness, or swelling soon after eating a nut or having contact with nut residue. A rash alone cannot confirm the trigger. Atopic Dermatitis, Contact Dermatitis, Drug Rash, Heat Rash, Intertrigo, Psoriasis, Ringworm, and Scabies can also cause rashes, often with different patterns and timing.

The combination of symptoms matters more than the appearance alone. Swelling of the lips or tongue, throat tightness, wheezing, repeated vomiting, dizziness, or collapse may indicate a severe allergic reaction even if the skin changes seem mild.

Stop eating the suspected food and avoid further contact. If you have a prescribed adrenaline auto-injector and severe symptoms are developing, use it as instructed and call emergency services. Do not rely on an antihistamine when breathing or circulation symptoms are present. Keep the packaging or ingredient information, note when exposure and symptoms occurred, and arrange allergy assessment before testing foods at home.

Call emergency services immediately for trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, hoarse voice, faintness, confusion, or widespread symptoms involving more than the skin. Seek prompt medical advice for a new rash after eating nuts, a reaction that is spreading, or symptoms that return after initial improvement.
