What should you know about nokor subcision?

Short answer

Nokor subcision uses a specialised needle to release fibrous bands tethering a depressed scar, allowing the skin to lift as it heals.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How the procedure works

A clinician cleans and numbs the treatment area, then guides a blunt or sharp subcision needle beneath a depressed scar. Controlled movements separate the scar from deeper tissue. The released space may gradually fill with new connective tissue, so improvement develops during healing rather than appearing immediately.

It is mainly considered for rolling or tethered acne scars. Deep boxcar scars, ice-pick scars, active acne, or a tendency to form raised scars may call for a different plan. Subcision can be combined with other scar treatments when texture, pigment, or volume loss also needs attention.

Preparing and recovering

Tell the clinician about medicines that affect bleeding, cold sores, allergies, previous scar reactions, and any active skin infection. Follow their instructions about pausing medicines; do not stop a prescribed treatment without advice.

Swelling, bruising, tenderness, and temporary unevenness can occur after treatment. Keep the area clean, avoid rubbing or strenuous activity for the period advised, and use only recommended skin products. Sun protection helps reduce lingering colour change while the skin settles. Several sessions may be discussed if scars remain tethered.

When to seek care

Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain, warmth, redness, or swelling is worsening instead of settling, or if drainage, fever, spreading redness, or marked tenderness develops. Seek urgent medical help for trouble breathing, facial swelling, faintness, or rapidly worsening symptoms after a procedure.

Questions for your doctor

Ask which scars are tethered, whether a different approach such as Acne Scar Laser Treatment may help, how many treatment visits might be considered, and which aftercare products are suitable for your skin.

Questions people ask

Is nokor subcision the same as subcision?

Nokor refers to a specialised subcision needle; the exact instrument and technique depend on the clinician and the scar pattern.

Does subcision remove every acne scar?

No. It addresses tethering beneath selected depressed scars, while surface texture or pigment may need another treatment.
