What should you know about nitrogen refrigerated liquid?

Nitrogen is kept in liquid form at an extremely low temperature. When a clinician applies it to a selected lesion, the intense cold freezes target cells. The treated skin may feel sharp or cold, then become red, swollen, blistered, or crusted. The visible response depends on the lesion and the application, so the material should be used only after the area has been assessed. A changing mark should not be assumed to be suitable for freezing.

Never try to store or apply refrigerated liquid nitrogen at home. Direct contact may damage skin and eyes, while released gas requires appropriate ventilation and handling. At a clinic, disclose numbness, circulation problems, diabetes, healing difficulties, and medicines that affect skin repair. After treatment, keep the area clean, avoid picking the blister or crust, and use the dressing recommended by the clinician. Cryotherapy for lesion removal is a clinical procedure, not a home cosmetic technique.

Contact the clinic if discomfort, redness, warmth, or drainage increases. Fever, spreading redness, severe swelling, or a wound that does not heal needs medical review. Accidental contact with the eyes or a broad area of skin warrants prompt advice. Ask for assessment before treatment if a mark is new, changing, bleeding, or difficult to identify.
