What should you know about the NexWave TENS unit?

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. Adhesive electrodes sit on intact skin near, around, or sometimes on either side of a painful area. The device sends controlled pulses that feel like tingling. These signals may alter how pain messages are processed and can make movement or exercises easier for some people. TENS does not repair a torn structure or treat every cause of pain.

The useful setting is comfortable rather than sharp or burning. Response differs between people and between pain conditions. A physiotherapist or clinician can help choose electrode placement, session timing, and intensity while checking that the device fits your treatment plan.

Read the device instructions and begin with clean, dry, unbroken skin. Turn the output down before removing electrodes, check the skin afterward, and replace pads when they no longer stick well. Do not place electrodes over the front of the neck, across the chest, on broken or infected skin, or over numb skin. Keep the unit away from water and do not use it while driving, sleeping, or operating machinery unless specifically instructed.

Stop using the unit if it causes a burn, persistent skin redness, worsening pain, dizziness, palpitations, or unusual symptoms. Seek medical assessment for new weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, severe injury pain, fever with a hot swollen area, or chest pain. Ask a clinician before use if you have an implanted electrical device, reduced sensation, seizure history, or are pregnant.
