Short answer

A Navya second opinion is a structured review of cancer information that can help clarify diagnosis, treatment choices, and questions for your care team.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What the review involves

A second opinion brings another clinical perspective to a diagnosis or proposed plan. A review may consider pathology reports, scans, laboratory results, prior treatments, symptoms, and the goals that matter to you. It can support discussion about whether the diagnosis is clear, whether further testing is useful, and which treatment options fit the situation.

Digital pathology may allow specialists to examine and share digitised tissue slides as part of a pathology review. A remote opinion does not replace examination, emergency care, or the treating team’s knowledge of your current condition. Recommendations can differ because experts weigh evidence and personal circumstances in different ways.

How to prepare

Gather pathology reports, scan reports and images, treatment summaries, medicine lists, and a short timeline of symptoms and appointments. Write down your diagnosis as you understand it, your treatment goals, and concerns about side effects or timing. Ask how records will be transferred securely and who will explain the written opinion.

Share the opinion with your oncologist before changing treatment. If surgery has been proposed, ask how the review affects the purpose, timing, and alternatives to tumour removal surgery.

When not to wait

Do not delay urgent care while arranging a second opinion. Contact your treating service promptly for rapidly worsening symptoms, new breathing difficulty, uncontrolled pain, heavy bleeding, confusion, or inability to keep fluids down. A second opinion is most useful when it informs a timely conversation about an active decision.

Questions to ask

Ask what records are needed, whether the pathology and scans should be reviewed, how the opinion will be integrated with your current plan, and which decisions cannot safely be postponed.

Questions people ask

Can a second opinion change my treatment plan?

It may clarify or suggest alternatives, but any change should be discussed with the clinician responsible for your care.

What is digital pathology used for?

It can support remote examination and sharing of digitised tissue slides during a pathology review.
