Short answer

Helpful nausea remedies include small sips, plain foods, fresh air, and treating the cause when one is found.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Choosing a remedy

Nausea is a sensation rather than a diagnosis. It may follow a stomach infection, food irritation, motion, heat, medication, migraine, pregnancy, or low blood sugar. A remedy that helps one trigger may not help another. For example, rest and cooling matter when Heat Exhaustion is involved, while prompt carbohydrate treatment may be needed for Hypoglycaemia under appropriate medical guidance.

Acid Reflux and Gastritis can irritate the upper digestive tract; Gastroenteritis and Food Poisoning often add diarrhoea or vomiting. Nausea by itself does not show which condition is present.

Practical steps at home

Take frequent small sips of water or an oral rehydration drink. Once settled, try plain foods in small portions and avoid greasy meals, alcohol, and strong odours. Sit upright after eating, loosen tight clothing, and use cool air if warmth worsens the sensation. Ginger or peppermint may suit some people, but stop anything that increases heartburn or discomfort.

Check with a pharmacist before using an over-the-counter product if you are pregnant, treating a child, living with a chronic condition, or taking other medicines. Avoid driving if a remedy makes you sleepy.

Red flags to act on

Seek urgent care for blood or coffee-ground vomit, severe abdominal or chest pain, fainting, confusion, difficulty breathing, a stiff neck with severe headache, or a swollen abdomen. Ask for same-day medical advice if you cannot keep fluids down, urinate much less than usual, or feel progressively weaker. Yellow skin or eyes, especially with abdominal symptoms, needs prompt assessment.

Prepare for advice

Tell the clinician when nausea began, whether you vomit, what makes it better or worse, and whether bowel changes, fever, pain, travel, or a new medicine occurred. Ask which remedy fits the likely cause and how long to use it.
