What should you know about Mylan tamoxifen?

Tamoxifen is an endocrine medicine. It attaches to oestrogen receptors in some breast cancer cells and can block oestrogen signals in breast tissue. Mylan is a manufacturer or brand name; the active medicine is tamoxifen. Your prescriber chooses it based on the cancer’s receptor results, treatment stage, menopause status, and whether the aim is treatment or risk reduction.

It is taken by mouth on a schedule set by the prescriber. Hot flushes, sweating, vaginal dryness or discharge, mood changes, nausea, and menstrual changes can occur. Do not stop it suddenly or change the dose without discussing the reason with the prescribing team.

Take each dose as directed and keep the medicine in its original labelled container. Tell the team about pregnancy or plans for pregnancy, breastfeeding, a history of blood clots or stroke, liver disease, and every medicine or supplement you use. Some medicines can change how tamoxifen is processed.

Keep scheduled follow-up appointments and report troublesome symptoms rather than skipping doses. If you miss a dose, ask your pharmacist or care team what to do; do not take extra tablets unless they advise it.

Seek urgent medical help for sudden chest pain, breathlessness, coughing blood, one-sided weakness, trouble speaking, or a painful swollen leg. Contact your clinician for unexpected vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, vision changes, yellowing of the skin, or symptoms that are severe or worsening.
