What should you know about a multivitamin infusion?

Short answer
A multivitamin infusion delivers selected vitamins through a vein, but it is not a substitute for finding and treating a deficiency.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What an infusion involves
An IV line delivers fluid containing selected nutrients into a vein while a healthcare professional observes you. Formulas differ, so the name does not describe a standard mixture. An infusion may be considered when oral treatment is unsuitable or a specific deficiency has been assessed, but feeling tired alone does not establish a vitamin deficiency. Fatigue can have many causes, including sleep problems, infection, anaemia, thyroid disease, or emotional strain.
Before choosing treatment
Ask what deficiency or medical goal is being addressed, which ingredients and doses are planned, and whether blood tests are needed. Share your medicines, allergies, pregnancy status, kidney or liver problems, and previous reactions. For documented Vitamin B12 Deficiency, a Vitamin B12 Injection or another clinician-selected plan may be more appropriate. Vitamin D Deficiency is generally managed with a tailored Vitamin D Supplementation plan. Use a qualified clinical service with sterile equipment and clear aftercare.
When to seek urgent care
During or after an infusion, seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial or throat swelling, chest pain, collapse, severe dizziness, or a rapidly spreading rash. Contact the service promptly for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, or pain around the IV site. Do not repeat infusions to manage Fatigue without assessing its cause.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether an IV route is necessary, how the formulation matches your results, what side effects to watch for, and how benefit will be reviewed. Ask about oral options and treatment of the underlying cause.

Questions people ask
Can an infusion treat tiredness without tests?
It should not be used as a shortcut for unexplained tiredness; the cause of fatigue should be assessed first.
Is an IV vitamin drip suitable for everyone?
No. Medical conditions, medicines, allergies, and the proposed ingredients can change whether it is appropriate.
