What should you know about a Monport CO2 laser?

CO2 lasers use infrared energy strongly absorbed by water in skin. Depending on the settings, the beam can vaporise a controlled layer, create microscopic treatment points, or heat tissue around the treated area. This can prompt new surface formation and collagen remodelling.

The device brand is only one part of the decision. The laser type, fractional or fully ablative approach, treatment depth, body site, skin tone, and operator experience influence the plan. Treatment may be considered for texture changes, lines, or acne scars, but it is not suitable for every skin concern.

Tell the clinician about recent tanning, cold sores, active acne or dermatitis, medicines that affect healing, and a history of raised scars or pigment changes. Confirm the planned depth, anaesthetic, eye protection, wound care, time away from work, and follow-up arrangements.

After resurfacing, use only the prescribed cleanser, ointment, or dressing routine. Do not pick crusts. Avoid unapproved acids, retinoids, fragranced products, swimming, and direct sun until the clinician permits them. Healing skin needs careful moisture and protection.

Contact the clinic for worsening pain, increasing redness, pus, fever, spreading blisters, delayed healing, or a new colour change that concerns you. Urgent care is needed for eye pain or vision change after treatment near the eyes, or for facial swelling with breathing difficulty. Infection and burns need prompt assessment.
