Missed miscarriage statistics: what they can and cannot tell you

Missed miscarriage statistics describe patterns across groups, but an ultrasound and clinical assessment confirm an individual diagnosis. A missed miscarriage, also called a silent or delayed miscarriage, may have few outward symptoms, so a number found online cannot determine what is happening in your pregnancy.

Statistics may refer to different pregnancy stages, definitions, or groups of people. They can help explain that early pregnancy loss is a recognised medical event, but they do not predict the outcome of one person’s scan.
