The norethisterone mini pill is a progestogen-only contraceptive taken daily. It changes cervical mucus and may make it harder for sperm to reach an egg. Depending on the product, timing instructions for a late tablet can differ, so the leaflet or pharmacist's advice matters.

Spotting, irregular bleeding, lighter periods, or no bleeding may occur. Nausea, breast tenderness, headache, or mood changes are possible. The mini pill does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
