Miliaria rubra causes

Hot, humid conditions, heavy sweating, tight clothing, and skin-on-skin rubbing can keep sweat from reaching the surface. The trapped sweat produces small red or skin-coloured bumps with prickling or itching, commonly on the neck, chest, back, waist, or folds. Occlusive creams and dressings may add to the blockage. A rash appearing after heat exposure fits heat rash, but its appearance can overlap with other causes of skin bumps or redness.

Move to a cooler environment, wash gently, pat the skin dry, and choose loose, breathable clothing. Pause strenuous activity until sweating settles. Avoid scratching and thick, greasy products over the affected area; a light, fragrance-free moisturiser may be more comfortable. See Heat Rash for broader self-care information. Arrange medical advice if the rash is spreading, very painful, oozing, crusting, associated with fever, or not improving after cooling and gentle care. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, marked weakness, confusion, or a rapidly worsening rash. These features may signal a problem other than uncomplicated heat rash.
