Traditional mesotherapy involves placing small amounts of a product into the skin with needles. The term non-invasive mesotherapy is commonly used for a needle-free facial treatment. A clinician may apply a serum, moisturising formula or other cosmetic product and use a device such as electroporation, ultrasound or another form of assisted delivery. The exact method matters because the device, formulation and treatment depth affect both the expected effect and the possible irritation.

People may choose this approach for temporary hydration, a fresher-looking surface or mild dullness. It does not remove deep scars, treat a serious skin disease or replace a medical diagnosis. Product names can also be vague, so ask for the ingredient list and the intended skin concern rather than relying on the word mesotherapy alone.

Before booking, tell the practitioner about eczema, rosacea, cold sores, allergies, current breakouts, recent peels or laser procedures, and any medicines or skincare products that make your skin sensitive. Ask whether the device is intended for your skin type and whether a small patch test is appropriate.

Arrive with clean skin unless the clinic gives different instructions. During the appointment, you may notice coolness, tingling, pressure or warmth, depending on the device. Afterward, use the recommended gentle cleanser and moisturiser, avoid picking or scrubbing the treated area, and protect it from sunlight. Postpone treatment over sunburn, an active skin infection or an open wound until the skin has recovered.

Contact the clinic if swelling, burning, tenderness, redness or itching is becoming more intense instead of settling, or if the treated skin develops blisters, spreading warmth or discharge. Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling with trouble breathing, faintness or swelling of the lips or tongue, which can signal a serious allergic reaction.

A new rash, persistent pigment change or worsening acne after treatment also deserves an assessment. Do not use another active product to counter the reaction without advice, because combining irritants can make the skin barrier more inflamed.
