How long does a liver function test take to work for hepatitis B?

The test looks at liver enzymes, bilirubin, albumin and related markers. Abnormal findings can indicate liver inflammation or reduced function, but they do not show whether hepatitis B is present. Hepatitis B assessment may include antigen, antibody and viral tests, with the pattern interpreted over time. A clinician may also consider ultrasound or an assessment for liver scarring.

Ask when the report will be released and book a review if hepatitis B is suspected or already known. Take prescribed treatment as directed and do not add herbal products or stop medicines without checking first.
