What should you know about herbal treatment for mumps?

Mumps is a contagious viral illness that commonly causes painful swelling near the jaw, along with Fever, headache, tiredness, and reduced appetite. Herbal preparations do not clear the infection or prevent its complications. Some products can irritate the stomach, affect alertness, or interact with pain medicines. Avoid sharing remedies, cups, towels, or utensils, and limit close contact while following medical advice.

Contact a clinician before assuming facial swelling is mumps. Rest, drink fluids, choose soft foods if chewing hurts, and use fever or pain treatment only as directed. Tell the GP about every herbal product and medicine. A GP Consultation can explain testing, isolation, and return-to-school or work advice. MMR Vaccination prevents mumps but does not treat an active illness.
