Some people have no clear warning while hepatitis B is active. The liver can be inflamed without causing pain, and symptoms may be mild or attributed to another cause. When symptoms do appear, they can include fatigue, nausea, reduced appetite, yellowing of the eyes, or dark urine.

Only testing can show whether infection is present, whether it is active, and whether you have protective antibodies. A clinician may use a hepatitis B blood panel and a liver function test, then decide whether monitoring or treatment is needed.

Arrange medical review even if you feel healthy. Take previous reports and vaccination records, and mention pregnancy, household exposure, sexual exposure, or medicines that affect immunity. Keep follow-up appointments because results can change over time.

Until your status is clear, do not share needles, razors, or toothbrushes. Ask close contacts about testing and hepatitis B vaccination. Avoid alcohol and check supplements or new medicines with your clinician.

Contact a clinician promptly for yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, persistent vomiting, increasing abdominal swelling, or severe fatigue. Get urgent help for confusion, fainting, vomiting blood, or rapidly worsening symptoms. Lack of symptoms is not a reason to delay care when warning signs develop.
