Hemoclot and tranexamic acid

Tranexamic acid slows the breakdown of clots. For heavy menstrual bleeding, it is generally taken during the bleeding days rather than continuously, according to the prescription or package directions. It does not treat the underlying reason for heavy periods, such as fibroids or hormonal conditions.

The same medicine may be used in other settings, including specialist treatment for melasma, but the dose, route, and monitoring can differ. Do not share tablets or use a formulation intended for another condition. Tell the prescriber about pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney problems, previous blood clots, and every medicine you take.

Follow the label exactly and take a missed dose only as the product instructions advise; do not double up. Keep a record of bleeding, pain, side effects, and how the medicine affects your normal activities. If heavy bleeding continues or returns, arrange an assessment rather than extending treatment yourself.

Ask a pharmacist or clinician to check the product strength and schedule, especially if you use hormonal contraception, anticoagulants, or medicines affecting the kidneys. A clinician may need to investigate the cause of bleeding and check for anaemia.

Stop and seek urgent medical advice for sudden chest pain, trouble breathing, coughing blood, one-sided leg swelling or pain, a severe new headache, vision changes, or weakness on one side. Seek urgent care for bleeding that is rapidly soaking pads, faintness, or severe pelvic pain. These symptoms need assessment rather than another dose.
